BETWEEN THE LINES

Posted by

This year has shown us more than ever that life is full of unpredictable obstacles and challenges to overcome. When 2020 arrived, I am quite sure that most of us was taking our freedom for granted. Then the unexpected happened worldwide…LOCKDOWNS.

If there is one statement I abide by, it is that life is full of highs and lows and it is up to us to stay between the lines, preferably closer to the top.

The closer to the bottom you are, people tend to expect less from you. They will make excuses for your blunders and shortcomings, and so will you. The bottom dwellers are also known as the dreamers. They are usually the ones that blame most of societies issues on the top tier but will never look in the mirror to find issues within themselves.

NOT SO EASY

On the other hand, the closer you are to the top, the more people expect of you. The hard work you put in is expected to trickle down and should serve those in the bottom tier or you will be viewed as greedy and inhuman. Therefore, people often think that the rich look down at the poor. It is true in most cases, but when you are at the top of a mountain, it is almost impossible NOT to look down.

On the flipside, it can be quite stressful at the top because everyone is looking up and waiting for you to fall.

And that leads to my new single Between the Lines.

I am in no way rich, but hard work and sacrifices from the past years has positioned me to do great things in 2020. A relationship was put aside and outings with friends were on hold to pursue my goals of paying off debts and purchasing rental properties. Today, I am at the top of my game.

My friends (and girlfriends) could not understand why I would rather learn editing skills on Youtube than go out or why I would be in the office learning mixing techniques instead of watching Ozark.  These very same skills are now helping me generate additional income in these tough times while most of my friends are getting laid off and relying on government support.

I can easily say, if I must stay between the lines, the sacrifices feel much better when you are closer to the top than your peers. Even Stevens I think they call it.

It only means you put in the extra work and sacrificed those nights out to stay ahead of the plan.

Lyrics

What’s left now than to get high all day
Long days for the paper chase it’s been all work no play
Friends lost and the womens last so sorry I can’t stay
I wish I could love you those words I can’t say

I’m a long way to the top I can tell you I wont flop
I can tell you I won’t drop I puff but I don’t stop
I stay far away from the cops most niggas I know chop
It be up and down like stocks white residue like chalk

It’s my world and I live that to the fullest
Jewerly shining the brightest
Shawty’s body the tightest
This weed got me the highest
And my mob’s always the truest
Sorry I’m showin bias
Full of gold call me midas
If I touch that then she pissin gold
Im corona sick you’re a common cold
Got you little rappers all stayin home

I’m livin good like I’m Guccis clone
Niggas don’t believe well to each they own
I just press record and I put it out there
It’s a dream to be a perfect nightmare

Eatin good I’m at Benihanas
Wit a girl Katrina smokin on khalifas
Damn this the life I live
Would be too much for these kids
Never knew it get like this
Whatever I want and I’m still not rich
Lets put it like this
She don’t miss me but she misses my mmm
Stick to the script

It ain’t about money don’t fall for the tricks

What’s left now than to get high all day
Long days for the paper chase it’s been all work no play
Friends lost and the womens last so sorry I can’t stay
I wish I could love you those words I can’t say
I’m a long way from the top (3x)

Ay
Long long long way
Ayyeah
A long long long way
